Whether it's in the morning to wake up or in the evening after a hard day's work, there's probably nothing more pleasant than a nice shower after which we feel fresh and rested. But while you might think that showering could be the easiest hygiene routine of the day, you can actually make some mistakes in the process.
Watch out for these shower mistakes!
Are you doing everything right in the shower? We've compiled the most common mistakes!
1. You shower with water that's way too hot.
For some of us, yes, the water can't be hot enough when we shower. But here lies a great danger for our sensitive skin: hot water washes away much of the natural oil film that protectively surrounds the skin. As a result, it loses moisture - and dries out. Especially those who already have skin problems, such as acne or rosacea, should be careful not to use water that is too hot - lukewarm is sufficient.
2. you do not wash your feet
When you take a shower, your feet are automatically in the water, and there's always more coming from above. Who thinks that the feet become clean enough, is unfortunately mistaken. After all, they sweat in winter in thickly lined shoes and the soles of your feet suffer in summer on flip-flops made of plastic. And the spaces between the toes are also often forgotten in the shower, where athlete's foot can easily form. That's why it's important to clean your feet thoroughly with shower gel every time you take a shower!
3. you wash your intimate area incorrectly
The female intimate area has amazing self-healing powers and does not require much external care - yet many women overdo it. They take ample time to pamper the intimate area with shower gel. Unfortunately, this is a fatal mistake: the vaginal environment is slightly acidic, and the pH value should be between 4.5 and 5.5. This ideally protects the vagina from germs and fungi. Most shower gels and normal soap have a pH value of eight to eleven. This can destroy the natural protection of the intimate area - therefore please use only intimate washing lotions!
4. your water is too hard
Sounds strange at first, but: If the hardness of the water is too high, it can damage skin and hair in the long run. The reason: The harder the water, the more magnesium and calcium it contains - and thus lime. This can irritate the skin and form a layer on the hair. Experts also suspect that hard water bleaches out newly colored hair more quickly. A deep-cleansing shampoo and a particularly gentle shower gel can help.

5. you never take cold showers
Especially if you have problems with low blood pressure, you should take alternating showers more often - this stimulates blood pressure. And a cold shower has even more health benefits: just 30 seconds is enough to improve the immune system and boost the metabolism. Another practical benefit is that if you finish your shower with cold water in the morning, you're guaranteed to be wide awake right away. So take heart!
