ATTENTION Mascara is bad for your eyes!

Many ladies use mascara to achieve the perfect eye look. Those who wear eye makeup every day, on the other hand, run the danger of developing health problems, according to physicians.

Many women spend years looking for the ideal mascara that both lengthens and volumizes their lashes. She intends to utilize her particular favorite on a daily basis once she has discovered it. Unfortunately, this is not a smart idea, according to ophthalmologists: wearing mascara every day can harm your eyes.

At a look, the eye's natural moisture protection

There are glands that perform numerous functions at the borders of the eyelids. They create sebum-like greasy substances and tear fluid, among other things.

The function of the oily substance: it ensures that the tear film remains on the eye and does not run off - this keeps the eye moist. If the oily film is damaged, however, the fluid cannot be kept on the eye - we first get watery eyes and then dry eyes.

Inflammation and dry eyes are possible side effects.

As Dr. James Chelnis, professor of the York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai explained to "Medical Daily," one of the possible causes of oil film damage is mascara. This is because mascara can clog pores and prevent the development of the essential oil film. This might be problematic, especially if the mascara is not properly removed in the evening. This not only causes dry eyes over time but also has the potential to induce eyelid inflammation.

Please be as thorough as possible!

However, it is not only important to remove the mascara completely; the cleaning should also be done carefully. Rubbing vigorously over the eyelids can cause skin irritation as well as the tearing out of individual eyelashes. This not only leaves ugly gaps in the lash line but also diminishes the eye's protection from dust and pollution. Cotton pads and a natural makeup remover, such as olive oil, are the finest way to gently remove makeup. Wipe the closed eye several times with a soft cloth. Any remaining oil is then wiped away with a gentle towel.

Is there no longer any mascara?

To safeguard our eyes, we don't have to give up our favorite mascara, of course. However, we should allow time for the eyes and eyelashes to regenerate: Consider skipping the eye makeup for the weekend to see how you feel. Those who already suffer from dry and/or persistently watering eyes can try removing the mascara for a few days to see if the symptoms improve. If not, an ophthalmology visit may be necessary.
